Learning About Islam w/ Mrs Ayub !
On Wednesday the 4th our student teacher Mrs Ayub taught us a lesson about her religion. Mrs Ayub is Islamic but born in New Zealand and refers herself as a Kiwi-Paki.
What I learnt about Islam is that they pray 5 times a day. Here's when they pray followed how you say it in Pakistan (in the brackets)
- At dawn(fajr)
- After midday(Dhuhr)
- Afternoon (Asr)
- Sunset (Maghirb)
- Night time(Isha)
Islams believe in what we believe except they have have different ways of expressing their religion. Like when they pray they get a mat, kneel and bow, pray facing towards Mecca. It's something like this.
What I found interesting about Muslims (Islams) is that I find Arabic writing interesting. I find Arabic writing really fascinating but more fascinating since they write and read Arabic backwards. Like for example their holy book called a Quran (also spelled as Qur'an or Koran) is written and read backwards.
We also learnt about the Arabic alphabet. Its pretty confusing since I'm not Arabic but its really cool.
